Where is Phoenicia? It is in every soul in Lebanon. It is within each one of us living outside as well. It is everywhere.
A question has always haunted me — ever since the first temple I visited in South Lebanon: Eshmun. A blazing wind of history-carrying images and sounds I had never seen or heard before rushed through my spine. "I see them. I can hear them," my younger self whispered. And from that moment, I wanted to know more.
I am standing in the same space. I am from those same people. My ancestors who walked and lived here at least 5,000 years ago. Who are they? And why does no one speak of them?
I want to go back to my roots. I want my children, and their children, to know who the real dwellers of this land are — the people who built this Great Lebanon as far back as 3000 BC. From Phoenicia, to the world.
I am not here to argue about religion or politics. I am here, standing in my geography, looking at my history. I want to know who we were — and keep that legacy alive for the next 3,000 years to come.
